Always In My Heart
8X10 acrylic painting. I paint with my son Owen who has autism. He helps me paint the backgrounds with a hand over hand method working on his fine motor skills and then I paint the rest.
The signature on our paintings tells our story as much as the painting itself. He helps me paint the backgrounds so I sign it with O for Owen and then LB.
I couldn’t decide if I should put the cross even though it was exactly what I wanted on the painting. I had started painting with the thought of a heart with flowers and a cross. I was afraid I might mess it up but it truly didn’t matter because like painting life is messy so I added the cross and then my heart was full. Sometimes the fear of ruining something that’s already imperfect is what keeps us rooted to the ground and not letting us move forward.
Come watch me paint…
