He knew he was going to his grandma’s house while I went to a parent-teacher conference so he asked me if his grandma could take him to his therapy. She agreed that she would take him. After he ate his third breakfast we got ready to go. He was very calm the whole way there. He did tell me as we were getting closer to his grandma’s house that it was his turn because he wanted to go by “the door” which is his preferred way to go.
I came home for a little bit and then went to the conference. I was excited to hear his progress. I also loved that his teacher showed me his scores on the tests they go through but let me know that she knows that when he takes them again his scores will be much higher. She emphasized that when he took these tests they were just getting to know each other and how he learns and does with testing. I am so thankful for a teacher that focuses on the positive aspects and is helping my son grow.
We had vision therapy after this so my mom brought Owen to me and then we went to his appointment. He was more focused on wanting his doctor to chew gum than to do any of the exercises. He was not yelling at her but his focus was on anything else besides doing the exercises. I told him he would not have his tablet when he got home and this still didn’t persuade him to do the exercises.
When we got home he played music while I fixed dinner. He asked Alexa for different songs and then he played his keyboard and sang. Next, he played his ukulele and sang several songs for me.
He insisted all night that we would stay home tomorrow so this generally is not something he will change his mind about but we will see. I love hearing him sing. It is the music that fills my heart with joy. Be in the moment and know that you are stronger than you can ever imagine. Smiles to all and donut daze!
