The snow started earlier than I was thinking it would so I wasn’t sure if we would make it to church. I started preparing him. I had decided to go see how slippery my sidewalk was. It was already messy and starting to get slippery. I was thinking about how much snow we would get by the time we got home. Within a little while our church canceled the eleven o’clock service so I didn’t have to make the decision. He went through all the emotions. He was sad but handling it. I’m thankful he was at least understanding it.
He asked me for sausage pancakes for breakfast but they didn’t come with our order. He knew this but he kept asking me for them. He then told me they didn’t bring them so he wouldn’t have to have them at grandma’s house since she had some on Saturday. He then asked for waffles. It is amazing how he processes everything.
“Owen upset Owen get upset no get upset Owen,” he said. I asked him why he was upset. He started talking about his friend and he wanted to see him. He talked about his tablet and what he would be wearing when he saw him again. He then told me he was upset and needed “pizza sauce on a pizza from Gino’s” and I could order a drink. I told him they were closed and he said tomorrow he would be upset and could have pizza.
He came to me and said, “I’m very disappointed no church today no snow next Sunday we go next Sunday.” He was very concerned about missing church again. He told me he slept all night and I let him know it wasn’t his fault. I had him read with me the announcement our church had sent hoping that would help him. He told me “The leprechauns need to work more on Sundays.”
I made tortillas with ham and cheese. He liked it better with just cheese but he ate it. I think he would like it better with turkey. Since it is different textures for him I think it will be something he gets used to though. I am constantly giving him different versions of food he likes to help him adjust to different textures, temperatures, colors, and how food smells so that he will try more things.
One of my new favorite things is that he understands how much I love his laugh. He made his fake laugh and said, “Mommy like my laugh in her heart mommy laugh too.” It makes me so happy to hear him say this. He has come so far.
He was so excited about seeing a new driving video that the person always posts. They generally schedule them for the next day. When he went to bed he said, “Ride with me.” At first, I had no clue what he was saying or meant then he said, “When it’s available” and I knew he meant the video. His mind is amazing and stores so much information. He fell asleep quickly and I was thankful for how well he handled the day. Let laughter fill your heart and share a joyful noise. Smiles to all and donut daze!
