As soon as he saw me he smiled and said, “Good morning tablet.” I’m beginning to think tablet is my new name. I got my hug and I asked him what he wanted for breakfast not responding to the tablet request. Today’s answer was quick “pancakes” and before I could ask anything else he was off again. He had no trouble finishing all that I made him.
He was processing this new five minute rule but it seems like he is getting it and figured out how to get around it. He started coming up with new questions and statements but I like that he is working through what he has to say to me and it is not as repetitive. It will be interesting to see how he handles it tomorrow but he did not repeat himself anywhere close to what he generally does.
We got ready and went to meet my mom. He was going to spend time with his grandma and then she was going to take him to his therapy. He was very excited to have her go with him to his therapies. They picked up his requested food before they came to meet me. He had pretty good sessions and enjoyed his time with his grandma.
He hardly said anything on the way home. He was incredibly calm in the car and didn’t tell me where to turn or scream when I did. When we got home I gave him his food he asked for the cheeseburger first. He ate all of his cheeseburger including bun first but only a couple of nuggets. He usually requests a cheeseburger but hardly eats any of it.
He was singing This Old Man to Siri and asking her to translate it into Arabic. He did it for about ten minutes with different lengths of the song then he just stopped and said, “Football in Arabic” and then started going through more nursery rhymes. His last request was “Bring me your tablet it’s time to get ready for bed in Arabic” and started laughingly hysterically. It was nowhere close to time to even start getting ready for bedtime.
He is growing so much and we have one week left until the new school year begins. I pray every day for it to be the most amazing experience for him. I told him we could go to the park tomorrow and he said, “Stay home.” We will see what tomorrow brings but I know that he had a great day. His laughter is the best medicine I could possibly ever have and I’m thankful. Start the day knowing there is always hope and know that it will be a beautiful day. Smiles to all and donut daze!
