We woke up a little later than yesterday but still early. That’s when he immediately started focusing on the fact that it was summer break. I know that the date was still concerning for him and throughout the day he was referencing that tomorrow will be the 17th. I am hoping that will help relax him some on the fact that he is not going back to school yet. We have a very busy couple weeks ahead so I told him that we were not going to do anything tomorrow. This was also a concern for him. He asked me many times about it. I told him that if he wanted to go to the park or something tomorrow we could and he said, “Stay home.” We will see how the day goes. We may need a distraction. I just want to keep him calm.
He knew he was going to his grandma’s for the morning while I went to my physical therapy for my hip. He was excited about meeting his grandma. Years ago we would always meet when he went to her house and then I started mostly taking him. He has requested her to pick him up again. He is cycling through a lot of his memories from around that same age as well and will watch videos he used to watch.
I got done with my appointment and came home to eat lunch. Our power was out and I prayed by the time I got him it would be back on. He references the storms we had and how we lost power all the time so I was thankful by the time I went to pick him up it was back on. He had a great time with his grandma and he was excited he was going to see her several more times this week.
When we got home he was mostly calm. He was cycling through some of his attitudes and talking about the days ahead but in general, he was pretty calm. He would start to go through his days but when I told him we were going to talk about something else he did pretty well.
He read books with me and then he sang the books. I love that his speech therapist worked with him on that because it is always fun to hear him sing. I love his love for books too.
Night came quickly. He asked me for a cheeseburger right as it was bedtime. It is never dull at bedtime. He got ready for bed and was yelling about staying home tomorrow. I pray he sleeps tonight and so do I. I’m thankful for his beautiful singing and his amazing laughter. Let the laughter in the world be the song in your heart. Smiles to all and donut daze!
