He was very excited all morning and he couldn’t wait to get to church. He was saying his prayer all morning “Dear God thank you for Owen.” I love that he randomly prays now. Depending on the moment he will say thank you for all his friends and family. I love that he always starts with himself. That is how I start my prayers with him and it makes me happy to hear him say it.
For a while, Owen was constantly wanting to ride his bike and then one day it stopped. We had gotten him a new bike and he still didn’t want to ride it. Today he asked me multiple times to ride his bike but where he wanted to ride it is someplace he can’t. I don’t know why he got it in his mind that he could ride it over the bridge but he asked me all morning. I told him that he couldn’t ride today because I needed to get his tires filled. They have lost air since sitting for so long but hopefully, he will want to ride someplace other than a bridge.
We got ready and went to church. I told him that he was going to see our friends. He was super excited about it. He did great at church and on the way home he kept saying “We celebrate Easter Sunday.” I love all the connections he is making and how he is explaining everything.
When we got home we ate our lunch and he was full of stories to tell. He is getting so he is very descriptive about things he wants you to know. He said, “I laugh like a boy” and did his fake laugh for me. He asked me many times if he was going to school tomorrow and his therapies. I told him yes but he was on repeat. He wanted to know about his entire week.
I kept asking him what he wanted for dinner and he wouldn’t answer me. I gave him multiple things but he didn’t want to eat until it was time to get ready for bed. I think it was a distraction for more time. When he got out of the bath he wouldn’t go to bed. He kept standing in the kitchen asking me to tell him if he was going to school tomorrow. I had told him that he was but he had to go to bed so he could go to school. He then started insisting he go to his teacher. I told him we couldn’t go tonight. He started screaming at me. I told him that nobody was at his school so even if I took him to school he would have to wait until tomorrow. He said, “Take a deep breath” and then kept screaming. I told him taking a deep breath was to eliminate the screaming. He finally went to bed and stopped screaming.
Besides his screaming at bedtime, he had a relatively great day. I’m glad he loves going to school so much I just wish it was when it was actually school time. He kept repeating his prayer and when he finally got in bed he kept repeating it. He told me “I pray you sleep all night.” I’m thankful for all his connections and I’m glad he is ready for his week ahead. I loved hearing him laugh so much today. Find your peace in the little things and let your calm shine through. Smiles to all and donut daze!
