Except for wanting to turn everything off that I turned on he was staying pretty calm. He was staying put until he can accomplish tomorrow to get back to his regular scheduled life on Monday. Tomorrow is when everything returns back to routine and that makes him very happy. And his happiness is my happiness.
He is getting better about the weather and saying “Stay home when icy or snowing.” I have been trying to talk to him about it so it’s not as much of a surprise when it happens. We discuss the weather every day and “what’s going to happen” when it's yucky outside. He goes through the same questions and speech about the weather.
Owen said “number orange” when he walked into the living room talking about one of the toy robots he was playing with. That’s my boy like his momma. Colors, numbers, and letters all blend together to explain what we mean. He is getting very descriptive and I can tell how much his school and therapists are working with him.
He remained pretty calm throughout the day except him wanting to bite things and wondering if “long pants” have to be worn tomorrow. I tried a couple of times to convince him to go to different places and he didn’t want to go anywhere until tomorrow to “church and Arby’s.” I guess I didn’t try too hard since I was not feeling great but I did want to give him the options. Not sure how Arby’s became a decision he wanted to make today but they have chicken strips he told me and he wants those.
As the day wore on I could tell he was looking forward to church tomorrow and back to routine. He went through his list of people he was going to see tomorrow and who might take him to church. I told him I would take him and once again he started naming people who were all out of town. His little smile made me know he knew exactly what he was doing. I’m thankful he had a good day and I can see how much he has grown in the last week. He truly handled everything that was thrown at him and enjoyed himself in those moments. That’s growth and I am so proud of him. Let the good days rule your path to happiness. Smiles to all and donut daze!
