He asked for some chocolate milk and then he wanted me to know that he wanted to make his teacher happy. He went to sleep saying that he wanted to make her happy and he woke up saying it. I’m so glad his transition to middle school has gone so well and he loves his teacher.
My head was cold so I put my bunny ears on as soon as I got up. This made him very happy and he was much calmer when he saw me with them. This can keep us in circles though and get him to focus on the fact that I should wear them all the time. I have to remind him that I only wear them when my head is cold so he doesn’t continue to focus on it.
When we were getting ready for school he started going through all his days until he would back to school in January. He said he wanted to go to Burger King on Friday and have a hamburger with his friends. He went through all the people and restaurants he wanted to go to with them. It was raining when we went outside for the bus but he handled it all well.
When he got home he kept saying “You know the answer.” I often tell him I don’t know what the answer is because I don’t know what the question is. I told him he had to ask me a question so I could see if I knew the answer. I also told him he would have to learn it in other languages if he was going to keep saying it. I hope he makes the connection to why we ask questions.
We had egg salad for dinner and he ate every bit of it without making a mess. This was a huge victory. Usually, he squishes his food when he is eating but I have been trying to do it in different ways to see if it will help. This time I cut it up into tiny triangles and he was able to hold it but since each triangle was one bite he didn’t squish it.
He sat with me before bedtime and he started asking for different videos we have watched over the years to work on sleeping habits and to help him relax. It is amazing how much information is stored in his brain. He said he made his teacher happy today and I told him that he made me happy.
Bedtime happened quickly after a few false starts. He was anxious about the holiday so he wanted to make sure he knew what was happening each day. I reminded him to focus on today and he would see his teacher tomorrow. I’m thankful he is thriving in school and making great progress. I was tired today but felt pretty good and ready for the next phase of this journey. Find happiness in the quiet moments and know that today will be filled with joy. Smiles to all and donut daze!
