Owen slept until six and was very happy he had “slept upper night.” I was up off and on all night but slept pretty well. He couldn’t wait to get to school to tell his teacher she was happy. I’m not sure if he told her but he wanted her to know.

He sat next to me talking about wanting to go to Burger King for burgers, apple juice, and french fries with his friend. Then he wants him to go bowling and run in the driveway. He is getting very descriptive and telling me more details about what he thinks and wants.

He told me his mouth was no longer cranky. He was eating much better and it didn’t seem to be bothering him when he woke up this morning. His dentist told me he might still favor it for a few days but thankfully he has made great improvement already.

He did well this morning about getting ready and listening to me. We went out to wait for the bus and once it arrived it took him a minute to get on because he wanted to make sure he would see his teacher in January. He has a hard time focusing on the now. I told him he would and he finally got on the bus.

When he got home he was not happy that I didn’t wear my bunny ears when he got off the bus and it was a great discussion all night. I told him that it was too warm for me to be wearing them today but he still didn’t like it. He told me he wanted to go to the park tomorrow when he got home from school but it is supposed to rain so we will see. He was looking for videos on how to fry spinach. He calls the word “Spanish” spinach but he said, “how to fry spinach” so it is interesting. I wonder how he came up with this.

Throughout the night he wanted to make sure I knew his teacher was happy and I wondered if there was more to that story. He also wanted to make sure I knew that if he took his bath early enough he could have his tablet. He painted Christmas ornaments for his people and told me who he wanted them to go to.

I’m so thankful for his growth and all the things he is learning. Each day is a blessing and today I feel so thankful. I keep thinking about the journey we have been on and how far we’ve come. A week ago I was preparing for my surgery and now I am feeling grateful for hearing the words “cancer-free.” Be thankful with the little things and know that they truly are what it’s all about. Smiles to all and donut daze!

I'm Lynn Browder. Owen's Mommy. The best moments in time are when I get to see the smile on his face and that giggle come from his heart.
