After the initial morning shock of all the things not going according to his plan, he settled down and started planning with his other tablet. He wanted first, second, and third breakfast and kept asking me when he was going to school. He talked about his best friend and being with him on the field trip. We finally got ready and out the door, we went to wait for the bus.
When he went to bed he had talked about going swimming today but I was not going to push it since he had been up so early and had a busy day ahead. Plus, he is making huge strides so I want to see what he asks for instead of me always suggesting what we are doing. I am just trying to find ways to make it calmer for him and let him be in more control of his schedule within reason.
When he got home from school I let him lead the way and I think he had a full day. He started taking off his shoes so I asked if he wanted to go anywhere and he said no. I wasn’t going to push it. Plus, on Saturday he is going to a swimming lesson so he will get to go swimming then.
I fixed his snack and I asked him about his day. It is generally not something he will tell me any details about so today was a huge blessing. He told me they watched a movie and played in the water on his field trip. I knew he was looking forward to the water table they have there and for him to tell me they watched a movie was incredible.
He said he wanted to go to the library tomorrow but then he said no so we will have to wait and see what happens with our night. I’m always trying to figure out how to tell him about exciting activities we are going to do without having him lose sleep over it. This is always a challenge for me.
He was calm as the evening went on. He is played with his megaphone and a few of his other games. He then played his harmonica. He went through the different keys he had until he found the one he wanted to play. He has come so far and he is teaching himself.
The request for gum came in again. I think he wants to start experimenting with gum since he has tried it a couple of times now. He wants blue gum. I am going to get some and see what he thinks again.
Night came quickly and I was glad for the calm. I hope he wants to go to the library tomorrow with his grandma but we will see. He can’t wait to go to school tomorrow to see his best friend again. And that makes this momma happy. Each day is a gift. Through challenges we grow. Let yesterday go and tomorrow is a brand new day. Smiles to all and donut daze!
