I could hear Owen laughing at something on his tablet. I looked at the clock and just focused on his laughter. When he is laughing it is truly the best moments. His laugh is like that ray of sunshine we wait for on a cloudy day.
I started getting us ready and instead of wearing jeans, I wore a dress. This is not something Owen takes too easily. “Dresses” are like nightgowns to him and he thinks that when I have them on we should stay home. The exception to this rule is when we go swimming I can wear a dress. I put blue pants on him but they were not jeans. Blue pants have circled back around to become more of a focus for him.
We went outside to wait for the bus. He went right to his spot and stood there watching to see when it came around the corner but he kept picking up one knee and then the other looking at his pants. He was making sure it was blue. The bus came and it distracted his blue gaze. He came barreling at me with the best grin on his face, knowing the bus was about to turn the corner. When he is that happy it makes me that happy.
Home meant home today when he got off the bus. I didn’t want to push anything since yesterday was a little bit of a rollercoaster with us going to his appointment. He did fine but since he has a busy week ahead still I didn’t push it if he wanted to stay home.
When I met him at the bus I was in flower pants. This may or may not have been part of the reason he wanted to stay home. He immediately told me to put on a dress. The days of clothes and what we can wear are very long days. He wanted me to change right away. He wasn’t pleased that I wore a dress outside to wait for the bus in the morning and he wasn’t thrilled with the choice of flower pants for the afternoon. This can all be extremely overwhelming for him. I push the limits with this sometimes because he has to understand I can’t wear what he thinks are the right clothes at the right time each and every time.
The night was calm. He played on his laptop and we talked a lot. The dude is eating well right now and that makes me happy. He’s excited for his Thursday for therapy and he wants to go see burger boy. He told me he wanted to order a pizza and we will see how all that goes. I’m thankful for my little planner. Great progress is being made. Be inspired by the world around you and let it be your guide to happiness. Smiles to all and donut daze!
