He kept telling me all the different shirts he wanted to wear but then wore the one we originally picked out. He listed shirts he hadn’t worn in quite some time and went to look for them in his room. It was a general sweep of the room not like in the drawers.
He told me he could take his tablet to therapy since he went to bed on time last night. That was a huge connection and a great start to our day. I was surprised when he expressed it like that but very thankful.
When I picked him up from school it was an all-out adventure to go to therapy. Keeping him focused on the steps he is doing is sometimes a big effort. And if I don’t keep him focused it can cause a meltdown or for him to spiral out of control and continue to mention what he wants to talk about constantly.
We had to stop at a red light and he started yelling at me to pull over and that he wanted to “sit on the other side” of the car. These are his go-tos when he is struggling in the car with the traffic. Meltdowns in the car don’t happen as often as they did when he was younger but they are still a thing. Every few seconds he was asking about riding the bus home tomorrow. We hadn’t even gotten to his therapy and he was already on his Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. He has a hard time concentrating on the moment he is in. We work through the steps so he can focus on today.
When we went to check in at his therapy he saw a guy in the waiting area looking at his phone. He wanted to take the guy’s phone to put a game on it. He kept wanting to run past me to go back to the guy to get his phone. The wheels were turning how he could get to him. So instead at one point he “laid down” on the floor. Thankfully his therapist came and got him and off they went.
He did great at therapy. He was very excited about going. His speech therapist said he has progressed with his sentence structure. When we left he wanted to go by the statues and then the bridge flags. He asked to go shopping but didn’t want to go to any of the stores he suggested. He decided he wanted pizza after we got home so he told me we would go get dinner tomorrow night. I said pizza. He said no dinner so I’m not sure what he is thinking but I’m sure he will let me know.
The memory of my sweet baby O is more than I can even imagine. Before he went to bed he started talking about his crib that I took down and made him a new bed. He told me all about both of them in detail and what happened to them. He went down memory lane on several other things and it always amazes me how many details he remembers.
He had a good night and ate lots of food again. He wanted me to play games with him and I love that. He was ready for his Friday and especially the “adventure home” on the bus. His laughter and joy make this momma’s heart happy. Each day is a gift. Find your joy and share it with the world. Smiles to all and donut daze!
