The best train is the sleep train and it hasn’t derailed for several days now. I woke up several times throughout the night but slept later than I usually do and Owen slept right until it was time to get ready. I’m thankful that sleep is happening again.

There wasn’t much time for him to go through his days ahead but he was so happy he was going to ride the bus home. He made sure I knew it and talked about it several times before we went to wait for the bus. He was happy to be wearing his blue pants and new blue shoes. Out we went to wait for the bus.

I like to make sure we go outside before his scheduled pick-up time in case the bus comes early. It also gives me a few minutes to work with him on different exercises or talk to him about the day ahead. We worked on different things he sees, hears, and moving his body hoping once again to work on distracting him and a relaxation technique.

He heard the bus before we saw the bus. I could tell he heard it by the expression on his face. He immediately got giddy with excitement. He comes crashing into me, hugging me, and laughing with such enthusiasm. I love his love for the bus. Over his shoulder once again he told me he was riding the bus home and off they went.

He came home talking about missing his music therapy and telling me he would see his therapist in two weeks. I told him next week he would see her and he was happy. He then started talking about going to his vision therapy and seeing his doctor.

He had his snack and we got ready to go. He did great on the ride there and truly listened to instructions. We practiced his new relaxation technique and I let him take his tablet with us. He did all the exercises and was very calm today with both the doctor and her intern. The progress is outstanding and I’m thankful that he was able to do so many of the exercises.

On the way home he kept saying he was going to “act up” but I ignored him and he started talking to me about other things. He told me about the days ahead and asked to go to the park with some of his friends tomorrow.

The night went quickly and he has tomorrow off so that has been a lot for him to process. He went between what he would do tomorrow and riding the bus home on Wednesday. I saw great progress today and for that I’m thankful. Each day the path leads us to new victories. Be bold in your choices and keep pushing yourself forward. Smiles to all and donut daze!

I'm Lynn Browder. Owen's Mommy. The best moments in time are when I get to see the smile on his face and that giggle come from his heart.
