It’s another one of those days that followed another one of those nights that one of us wakes up before the other one even falls asleep. Owen was up before midnight once again. I got him back to sleep but couch sleeping it was. I have to think his body senses if I try to move him back to bed from the couch or if I try to leave him on the couch and I go to bed. I’ll figure this sleeping puzzle out one day or I’ll start going to bed before midnight. School was cancelled due to all the flooding in the area. My heart aches thinking about it and there are so many people hurting. He did well throughout the day. If he wasn’t working on the numerous school apps he has, he was asking Siri to say everything he could think of in all the languages she translates into. My favorite of the day, “growl growl growl in Russian Siri”, quickly followed by the same thing in Korean. He was on the letter G on one of his apps so next up was grasshopper and grapes. He read out the different vocabulary lists of the apps, as well. I could hear his teacher’s influence as he was sounding out each of the letters as he filled them into the word’s order. He decided I needed to vacuum at one point so he brought the vacuum to me but I told him if he wanted the vacuum he would have to start vacuuming himself. Oh how far we’ve come from the screaming about even looking at the vacuum, to following the reviews on YouTube, to now vacuuming. “You make me happy”, I said to him and he quickly replied, “when skies are gray”. I love that he replies back to me now when I say that to him. I tell him that makes my heart sing. I went to the bathroom and before I could even get completely out he had to check the door and put it in the correct angle. I can’t even think about it. The anxiety and obsession have started for order. He then informed me, “I'm not going to bed today no bed today” but he did go on and he wanted to take a bath so he could go to bed and then see his teacher. He took his bath before dinner was even finished cooking. After his bath, I could tell he is for sure growing because he ate two chicken patties and baked beans. He looked at my empty plate and then his. He asked for the voice-activated option on YouTube for “Goldilocks” and I thought I might need to start making bigger portions. He ate some applesauce and veggie straws after that and then it was bedtime. He was struggling with not seeing his teacher and the meltdown started. I pray and pray and pray tomorrow they have school again. Never give up on your dreams for tomorrow. Find your happiness and keep moving forward. Smiles to all and donut daze!
